A TOUCHING LOVE STORY:MORAL OF THE STORY-DONT DULL

10TH GRADE
As I sat there in English class,I stared at the girl next to me.She was my so called 'bestfriend'.I stared at her long, silky hair, and wished she was mine. But she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it.After class, she walked... up to me and asked me for the notes she had missed the day before.I handed them to her.She said'thanks'and gave me a kiss on the cheek.I want to tell her,I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends,I love her but I'm just too shy,and I don't know why.............................

11TH GRADE
The phone rang. On the other end,it was her. She was in tears, mumbling on and on about how her love had broke her heart. She asked me to come over because she didn't want to be alone, So I did.As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her soft eyes, wishing she was mine. After 2 hours, one Drew Barry more movie, and three bags of chips, she decided to go home. She looked at me, said 'thanks'and gave me
a kiss on the cheek..I want to tell her, I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends,I love her but I'm just too shy,and I don't know why.......................

SENIOR YEAR
One fine day she walked to my locker."My date is sick" she said,"hes not gonna go" well,I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,we made a promise that if neither of us had dates,we would go together just as'best friends'.So we did. That night, after everything was over,I was standing at her front doorstep.I stared at her as She smiled at me and stared at me with her crystal eyes. Then she said- "I had the best time, thanks!"and gave me a kiss on the cheek.I want to tell her,I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends,I love her but I'm just too shy,and I don't know why.......................

GRADUATION
A day passed, then a week, then a month. Before I could blink, it was graduation day.I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel up on stage to get her diploma.I wanted her to be mine-but she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it.Before everyone went home, she came to me in her smock and hat,and cried as I hugged her. Then she lifted her head from my shoulder and said- 'you're my best friend, thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek.I want to tell her,I want her to know that I don't want to be just friends,I love her but I'm
just too shy,and I don't know why.......................

MARRIAGE
Now I sit in the pews of the church. That girl is getting married now.and drive off to her new life, married to another man.I wanted her to be mine, but she didn't see me like that, and I knew it.But before she drove away, she came to me and said 'you came !'.She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek.I want to tell her,I
want her to know that I don't want to be just friends,I love her but I'm just too shy,and I don't know why.......................

DEATH
Years passed, I looked down at the coffin of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.At the service, they read a diary entry she had wrote in her high school years. This is what it read:'I stare at him wishing he was mine, but he doesn't notice me like that, and I know it.I want to tell him,I want him to know that I don't want to be just friends,I love him but I'm just too shy,and I don't know why.I wish he would tell me he loved me !'I wish I did too...'I thought to my self, and I cried. N.B this goes out to the young and shy folks of this era, no matter how numb and nerdy you are, never allow something you cherish the most slip through your finger tips.Opportunity lost can never be regained........................

CHANGE.........Do You Actually need it?

Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.

We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely observed, "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves." We created our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need more answers or more time to think things over to reach better conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they need nothing but the truth.

We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.

And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life - If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your very own power of choice.

To Your Success,

YUSUF SAHEED

Premier League Team of the Week

Premier League Team of the Week: Robin van Persie & Gareth Bale shine as Arsenal & Tottenham dominate

After weeks of domination for the Manchester clubs in the Premier League this season, north London’s finest turned on the style over the weekend to send out a message to their fellow top-four contenders.

In one of the most entertaining matches we are likely to see this season, Arsenal stunned Chelsea by running out 5-3 winners at Stamford Bridge, while Tottenham extended its unbeaten run to 11 games with a 3-1 victory over QPR.

Spurs’ attacking quintet were in full flow at White Hart Lane, forcing a number of saves out of QPR goalkeeper Paddy Kenny. Commiserations to Mark Schwarzer and David de Gea, but the former Republic of Ireland international gets the nod to make his first TOTW appearance of the season.

Nemanja Vidic is at center-back for us this week after helping Manchester United keep a clean sheet against Everton on his return to the starting XI, and Ryan Taylor takes his place at left-back for his display in Newcastle United’s impressive win over Stoke City.

Elsewhere in defense, Micah Richards and Laurent Koscielny retain their places after making their first appearances in our XI last weekend. Richards once again staked his claim for a regular place in the England set-up with an excellent display for Manchester City against Wolves, while Koscielny was the best defender on show in the eight-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge.

We could quite easily have gone with Tottenham’s midfield five after its masterclass on Sunday, but only three - Scott Parker, Rafael van der Vaart and two-goal hero Gareth Bale - make the cut. Theo Walcott joins the Spurs trio in our XI after starring for Arsenal on Saturday, while Demba Ba makes his second appearance in the TOTW this season after his hat-trick against Stoke City.

For what must be the first time this season, David Silva did not come close to making our team. But one man closing in on the Spaniard’s tally of five TOTW appearances this season is Robin van Persie, who features for the third successive week and for the fourth time this campaign after his stunning hat-trick against Chelsea.

The Premier League Weekend Winners And Losers

The Premier League Weekend Winners And Losers

United's comeback started at the back, while Arsenal and Spurs suddenly appear upwardly mobile again...
Winners

Manchester United
Panic over. United went back to basics at Goodison Park, a strategy embodied by the recall of the rugged Nemanja Vidic at the expense of the rusting Rio Ferdinand, and the result was a straightforward resumption of normal service. 0-1 may not sound like much but a clean-sheeted victory was the perfect tonic to clear last week's hangover. For all the understandable fuss over the mayhem at Stamford Bridge, United's narrow victory at Goodison was the critical scoreline of the weekend, a must-make victory urgently required to right a wrong and keep City in respectable reach. A five-point lead is much like a two-goal lead because so much depends on the next sway. If the next pointed shift is to City's advantage then their lead will become serious stuff. If it is reduced in United's favour, the champions will loom large again.

So with the title race now lodged on a pivot point there was no margin for error for United at Goodison and their single-goal victory was precisely what Sir Alex Ferguson had in mind when he plotted the appropriate response to last Sunday's undisciplined humiliation."It's about time we won 1-0," he reflected afterwards.

To have been dropped in these circumstances must bode particularly badly for what remains of Rio Ferdinand's future at United and the omission of Anderson also served as an endorsement of reports that he had been singled out for the hairdryer treatment last Sunday. His future may already be a thing of the past and it spoke volumes that Sir Alex preferred instead to deploy Wayne Rooney in an unfamiliar midfield role. A second telling insight into United's mind-set was the fact that their talisman did not make a single touch of the ball in Everton's penalty area. United are on the defensive. All they need now is the appearance of Old Trafford's favourite pantomime villain - a critic - and their siege mentality will be complete.

Not that United should require any additional assistance beyond a generous helping of soft opposition for the rest of the year. This midweek's Champions League tie against Otelul Galati should be one of the most one-sided in the competition's history and end with a victory to all-but guarantee progress to the knock-out stage. After that, United's domestic progress should be relatively serene. Just take a look at their Premier League schedule for the remainder of 2011: Sunderland (h), Swansea (a), Newcastle (h), Villa (a), Wolves (h), QPR (a), Fulham (a), Wigan (h), Blackburn (h).

By the start of 2012, the mauling of Manchester could already be a distant memory.

Robin van Persie
We ran out of superlatives weeks ago. In the absence of any words still befitting his brilliance, a heap of statistics will just have to provide confirmation of his climb to elite standing: Van Persie's hat-trick at the Bridge was only the fourth scored against Chelsea in the Premier League, the first by a visitor this millennium, and culminated with his 28th goal in 27 league games this year. But then again, sometimes words aren't necessary. To appreciate the level Van Persie has reached, just look out for the reaction of Fernando Torres when the Arsenal captain ran on to Florent Malouda's inadvertent through-ball to put his side back into the lead.

He has become so good that his opponents now expect him to score and are giving up trying to stop him.

Aaron Ramsey
A coming-of-age performance. The Welshman's season has mostly been a quiet affair, but it picked up momentum after his winner in Marseille and what turned up at Stamford Bridge was an arrival as worth waiting for as those by Cesc Fabregas against Juventus and Jack Wilshere against Barcelona in February.

Theo Walcott
Credit where it's definitely due. He was excellent.

Tottenham Hotspur
No longer favourites for fourth, but only because they have been promoted to joint-favourites to finish in third. Chelsea beware: Spurs are on the march and looking upwardly mobile.

Their football before the interval against a QPR side suffering from an inferiority complex was frequently sublime and their second-half laxity only served to embellish the class of Gareth Bale's match-clincher. The combination of passes that culminated in the Welshman's sumptuous strike must be an early contender for team goal of the season.

If we were being picky then we would add a few lines about the poverty of Spurs' set-piece defending - it must be a North London thing because Arsenal's pathetic concession to John Terry the day before was Friday Football ragtag nonsense - but a more preferable option would be to ponder the full potential of Spurs' progress up the league table.

Were Harry Redknapp's side to win their remaining game in hand - remember their season-opener against Everton was postponed because the underclass didn't have enough plasma televisions - then they would trail the champions by
just a solitary point with a quarter of the campaign elapsed. In longer-term reality, eclipsing either of the Manchester behemoths is too much to expect, but it's much harder to foresee any reason why third place should be beyond their reach.

The substantive advantage Tottenham have over Chelsea - assuming the battle for third does indeed develop along those head-to-head lines - is that, unlike Andre Villas-Boas' ageing and thinner squad, Spurs will not be burdened by Champions League football in the new year and have elected instead to minimise the Europa League as an under-25s competition. Around February and March, when the the knock-out stages can burden domestic affairs, a lack of baggage could be critical.

In the shorter term, two other comparisons should stand Tottenham, now level on points with Chelsea with a game in hand, in better stead. The first is the fixture list, because whereas Chelsea must travel to Blackburn on Sunday before facing Liverpool (h), Newcastle (a), Manchester City (h) and Wigan (a) on consecutive weekends ahead of what is poised to be a pivotal clash at White Hart Lane, Spurs 'only' have to face Fulham, Villa, Bolton and West Brom over the next month before hosting Chelsea three days before Christmas.

And the second is that while Andre Villa-Boas could 'only' populate his bench with Jamal Blackman, Ryan Bertrand, Oriol Romeu, Romelu Lukaku, David Luiz, Florent Malouda and Raul Meireles, Spurs' substitutes this weekend were Carlo Cudicini, Roman Pavlyuchenko, William Gallas, Jermain Defoe, Sebastian Bassong, Jake Livermore and Sandro. Judging by that listing, it would be no exaggeration to summarise that while Chelsea's squad is wafer-thin, Spurs have considerable strength in depth.

Joint-favourites for third, did we say? Hmm. Spurs should consider asking for an upgrade.

Manchester City
Victory acquired with ten men? Another title-winning hallmark ticked off the checklist, then.

True, they should have strolled to victory at home to Wolves, but a hard-fought win will do them no harm.

Fulham
Their season still hangs in the balance ahead of a testing run of fixtures - Tottenham (h), Sunderland (a), Arsenal (a), Liverpool (h) - but the win at Wigan, only their second in ten league games this term, has at least arrested an alarming slide down the table for the time being.

Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll
Is their pairing beginning to develop into a genuine partnership? Carroll's poke at the Hawthorns from Suarez's assist was the eighth goal their union has produced in ten starts together, which is a particularly impressive statistic in the context of the widespread understanding that they have yet to form an understanding of their own.

Liverpool
Now for the bad news after a good win. Steven Gerrard's latest setback has reportedly left the player distraught and though the Telegraph's declaration that 'the news on Gerrard is Liverpool's most important result of the season so far' reeks of hyperbole, another lengthy lay-off for their captain would be a hefty setback for Liverpool's stated ambition of attaining Champions League football. Whatever plans Kenny Dalglish had for incorporating Gerrard and Suarez - his best two players - into the same team will have to be put on hold yet again.

So far, Suarez has responded well to the extra responsibility thrust upon him by the captain's unavailability - since the Uruguayan's arrival in January, Gerrard has joined him on the pitch in just eight matches - but his own magnetism to bad news will surely take a weighty toll sooner rather than later. West Brom's complaints about his alleged antics to win a penalty that he didn't seek let alone appeal for were entirely bogus, but the mud has already begun to stick. Last week, Suarez was denied a clearish penalty against Norwich and the way Lee Mason turned away from Saturday's incident, leaving the decision to an unusually-brave linesman, may also have been an example of an official refereeing by what he's read in the papers.

Bad news is bad news because it invites more of the same. All the good reason, therefore, for Liverpool to get their own message out before it's too late.

Swansea
Blackpool are a recent warning from history to remind Swansea and their promoted peers how quickly an enthusiastic start can be pummelled into a vicious downward spiral, but all the signs so far are encouraging. Of the three newbies, Swansea particularly impressed this weekend and, though it's a bit early in the campaign to hype about six-pointers, it only takes a small step of the imagination to foresee the six-point gap from Bolton chiselled out by this Saturday's win proving a relegation-saver in six months' time.

Norwich
Paul Lambert's quest to make post-match interviews a cure for insomnia may not be earning Norwich any friends in the media - those not banned from Carrow Road, that is - but it could be argued that the calmness he has installed to a club which should be giddy after such a rapid rise through the leagues was exemplified by Grant Holt's unsavable injury-time penalty. After all that fuss about the award, and in the knowledge that his kick would be the last of the game, it was some finish.

Then again, it could just be that Holt took a penalty which was unsavable and his manager's monosyllabic dampners had no influence on proceedings. Nonetheless, to stick to the point of the argument being made, it's the calmness of Norwich's approach to a new life in the big time that is really worth talking up.

Losers

Chelsea
Last week, a first defeat to a promoted side in 64 matches. This week, a second successive derby defeat and confirmation that Chelsea have been passed the baton as the Premier League's latest crisis club. The reminder that this is a season of fickle fortunes ought to provide a measure of relief, but closer inspection of Chelsea's failings this weekend suggest that their present woes may yet prove profound unless emergency surgery is carried out.

Andre Villas-Boas' easy summer has been washed away by an unexpected autumnal downpour and all of sudden the Chelsea manager, with very little experience to call upon, has plenty of problems to fix - so many, indeed, that he could be forgiven for wondering just where to start. In every department on the pitch - goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack - he has issues to resolve and few simple answers.

If he is true to his roots as a disciple of Jose Mourinho then he will start his review at the back and ponder whether the high defensive line he has introduced can succeed with the players currently at his disposal. It is a system that not only requires pace in defence but also plenty of energy in midfield and judging by Saturday's mountain of evidence, with Arsenal spurning four clear chances in addition to the five scored, Chelsea lack those crucial attributes. It is no statistical quirk that Chelsea have currently conceded more goals at this stage of a season than in any other during the Abramovich era but a straightforward warning that they are in need of a fix.

There were certainly warnings aplenty this weekend. While the creaking John Terry literally made for an easy and convenient fall-guy, one telling post-match statistic was that the triumvirate in the Chelsea's midfield - Frank Lampard, Ramires and Jon Obi Mikel - made less interceptions combined than the excellent Laurent Koscielny personally completed for their opponents. Such was the poverty of their contribution that calls for the introduction of Oriol Romeu as a second defensive shield are not without foundation despite the youngster's raw inexperience.

With contests soon to come against Liverpool, City and Spurs, all of whom are also comfortable operating with a five-man midfield, Villas-Boas may have no choice but to renumber Chelsea's 4-3-3 formation if his high-line approach is not to end in systematic failure.

Andre Marriner
Chelsea were unfortunate in one critical moment, however, because Wojciech Szczesny's let-off when the scoreline was still at 2-2 defied sense or convention. If Koscielny was adjudged the last man then why is a defender ever sent off for committing a professional foul when a goalkeeper still stands between attacker and goal?

Daniel Sturridge
Two big games and two no-shows. Bothersome.

Laura Williamson
So wrote the Daily Mail hack this Saturday morning when asked 'if you were a manager, who would be first on your teamsheet?':

'Petr Cech. Still the best goalkeeper in the league. Chelsea's central defenders tend to change frequently but Cech can always be relied upon to make crucial saves when it matters. World class'.

Ooops.

The harsh reality is that Cech has ceased to be worthy of world-class status since his return from his head injury almost five years ago and has declined so rapidly of late that a new goalkeeper should be at the top of Villas-Boas' shopping list next summer.

Adel Taarabt
There's a chasm between the player Taarbat actually is and the player he thinks he is. To put the discrepancy to scale, it's approximately equivalent to the difference between the way QPR folded at Tottenham in the first-half and the manner in which they competed after the interval as a result of Taarabt's second half-time substitution in three games.

Blackburn and Anthony Taylor
Just what is it about referees and handballs these days? The first answer is that they are not alone in struggling to differentiate between hand to ball and ball to hand. Television seems obsessed with highlighting any and all instances when the ball hits an arm or shoulder and pundits even seem to have somehow managed to make law their idea that a player should always be punished if the ball hits his arm having travelled what's perceived to be in their eyes a lengthy distance.

And it's a nonsense which reached its nadir this weekend. According to the Match of the Day commentator for Norwich-Blackburn, the replays of Steven Nzonzi's alleged handling offence were "ambiguous". It was an unusual description but peculiarly apt because the offence itself has become ambiguous. Nobody seems entirely sure what handball is anymore. Too many grey areas have been added to an issue that should essentially be black and white. Ball to hand should only be considered hand to ball if and only if the interference can be deemed deliberate.

John Ruddy
A crack after just one mention of an England call-up. And so that's that for that idea.

Joe Hart
He is becoming the pushy type.

An Over-Represented Area Of The English Top Flight
Another defeat for Wigan, another defeat for Bolton, another bad day for Blackburn. Beyond the city limits of Liverpool and Manchester, it's looking grim up north-west.

Sunderland and Aston Villa
A point to draw little or no solace from.

Bolton Wanderers
Unlucky for some - Wanderers have been defeated in thirteen of their last fifteen Premier League matches. Their last draw, incidentally, was as long ago as February.

Wigan Athletic
Eight successive defeats for a team that has only scored six goals in ten games this season.

Alan Hansen
Just in case you were confused by the 'banter' about which Manchester team Hansen has backed for the title, these are the two declarations - one for City, one for United - which were presumably under reference. No wonder he only ever sits down on Match of the Day. All that knee-jerking must make for a chronic condition.

Barca dominate Ballon d'Or shortlist

Barca dominate Ballon d'Or shortlist

European champions Barcelona dominate the 23-man shortlist for the 2011 FIFA Ballon d'Or with eight squad members in the running. Real Madrid have five nominees.

Lionel Messi, the winner of last year's inaugural award, will be the favourite to take the honour, but he faces competition from team-mates Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, David Villa, Dani Alves, Gerard Pique and Eric Abidal. Messi, Iniesta and Xavi were named first, second and third for 2010.
Cristiano Ronaldo will also be a strong contender, and he is up alongside Iker Casillas, Karim Benzema, Xabi Alonso and Mesut Ozil.
Ozil believes two of his Madrid team-mates have a serious chance. "Casillas has been the best goalkeeper in the world for many years and I would give him the award," he said inMarca. "Ronaldo has a great chance and has a real desire to win it."
Wayne Rooney is the only Englishman to make the list, with only three other Premier League-based players - Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez and Nani - in contention. Bayern Munich duo Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller and Inter Milan stars Diego Forlan andWesley Sneijder are also in the running. Neymar, of Santos, is the only player outside Europe to make the list, while Anzhi Makhachkala and Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o is Africa's sole representative.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho faces a fight to hold onto his FIFA World Coach of the Year prize. Mourinho won a Treble with Inter in 2010 but Barcelona's Pep Guardiola, who came third, will be the favourite this time around.
FIFA Ballon d'Or men's shortlist: Ã‰ric Abidal (France), Sergio Agüero (Argentina), Karim Benzema (France), Iker Casillas (Spain), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Dani Alves (Brazil), Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon), Cesc Fàbregas (Spain), Diego Forlán (Uruguay), Andrés Iniesta (Spain), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Thomas Müller (Germany), Nani (Portugal), Neymar (Brazil), Mesut Özil (Germany), Gerard Piqué (Spain), Wayne Rooney (England), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands), Luis Suárez (Uruguay), David Villa (Spain), Xabi Alonso (Spain), Xavi (Spain).
FIFA World Coach of the Year men's shortlist: Vicente Del Bosque (Spain/Spain national team), Alex Ferguson (Scotland/Manchester United FC), Rudi Garcia (France/Lille OSC), Pep Guardiola (Spain/FC Barcelona), Jürgen Klopp (Germany/Borussia Dortmund), Joachim Löw (Germany/Germany national team), José Mourinho (Portugal/Real Madrid C.F.), Óscar Tabárez (Uruguay/Uruguay national team), André Villas-Boas (Portugal/FC Porto, Chelsea FC), Arsène Wenger (France/Arsenal FC).

LIFE

LIFE
God created the donkey and said to him, "You will be a donkey. You will work untiringly from sunrise to sunset carrying burdens on your back. You will eat grass, you will have no intelligence and you will live 50 years."
The donkey answered, "I will be a donkey, but to live 50 years is much. Give me only 20."
God granted his wish.

God created the dog and said to him, "You will guard the house of Man. You will be his best friend. You will eat the scraps that he gives you and you will live 30 years. You will be a dog."
The dog answered, "Sir, to live 30 years is too much. Give me only 15."
God granted his wish.

God created the monkey and said to him, "You will swing from branch to branch doing tricks. You will be amusing and you will live 20 years. You will be a monkey."
The monkey answered, "To live 20 years is too much. Give me only 10."
God granted his wish.

Finally god created man, and said to him, "You will be man, the only rational creature on the face of earth. You will use your intelligence to become master over all the animals. You will dominate the world and you will live 20 years."

Man responded, "Sir, I will be a man but to live only 20 years is very little, give me the 30 years that the donkey refused, the 15 years that the dog did not want and the 10 years the monkey refused.
God granted man's wish....

And since then...
Man lives 20 years as a man,
marries and spends 30 years like a donkey, working and carrying all the burdens on his back.
Then when his children are grown...
he lives 15 years like a dog,
taking care of the house and eating whatever is given to him, so that when he is old, he can retire
and live 10 years like a monkey,
going from house to house and from one son or daughter to another,
doing tricks to amuse his grandchildren

That's LIFE

AM FROM UGANDA

AM FROM UGANDA
A Nigerian man living in Sweden decided to marry a Swedish lady in order to be legally certified via resident status... but the lady was not aware of this. She felt he really loved her. Anyway, seeing that Nigerian men had a bad rep in that particular part of Sweden, our chap decided to lie to the lady. He told her he was from Uganda.

Upon marriage, the lady came home one day and informed our man that she had just met another Swedish lady who had married a Ugandan and they must all have dinner together.

The Naija man was somewhat perplexed, although not perceptibly, and wondered how he'd get out of this spot. He postponed and postponed until he could do so no more.

Finally, the day came when they were to have dinner. The other Swede came in with her Ugandan husband and they all sat at the table. Our Naija chappie was very quiet. "My own don spoil today" was all he could think.

The two Swedish ladies, wanting their husbands to mingle, being from the same homeland, asked them to speak to each other. "Hey! It's not every day you meet people from home.!" they admonished.

Our Naija man, being a man of great savvy, decided that he would just speak Yoruba, and the guy would probably assume he was from some part of Uganda where they spoke a different language. So looking across the table he said: "Egbon Eko ni mi, Ni bo lo ti  wa?" In Yoruba, this loosely translates to: "I'm a Lagosian, Where did you come from?" Remember, Lagos is a state in Nigeria, and it used to be the capital.

The fellow looked up at our friend. His eyes lit up as he said: "Ah, bobo mi! Omo Eko ni mi o! Omo Eko gan gan!" In Yoruba, this loosely translates to "Hey buddy! I'm a Lagosian. A REAL Lagosian!"

SMART CONTRACTOR

SMART CONTRACTOR
Three contractors were visiting a tourist attraction on the same day. One was from Nigeria, another from Germany, and the third from France.

At the end of the tour, the guard asked them what they did for a living.

When they all replied that they were contractors, the guard said, "Hey we need one of the rear fences redone. Why don't you guys take a look at it & give me a bid?" So, to the back fence they all went to check it out.

First to step up was the German contractor. He took out his tape measure and pencil, did some measuring and said, "Well I figure the job will run about $900. $400 for materials, $400 for my crew, and $100 profit for me."

Next was the French contractor. He also took out his tape measure and pencil, did some quick figuring and said, "Looks like I can do this job for $700. $300 for materials, $300 for my crew, and $100 profit for me."

Without so much as moving, the Nigerian contractor said, "$2,700."

The guard, incredulous, looked at him and said, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

"Easy," he said. "$1,000 for you, $1,000 for me and we hire the guy from France."

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY- THE BIGGEST FREEDOM

Let's go for a bus ride, shall we?
You've actually been traveling in this bus for quite some time already.
This bus is called your life.

It has a destination plate on the front.
You have simply never read it before, as you're not accustomed to being on the outside of your bus.

You choose who's driving, while you're hanging around and enjoying the ride.

Some choose their mother or father (or both) to drive their bus; others nominate a social, political or spiritual figure to drive their bus, whilst others choose a significant other.

In fact, most people I know nominate another to drive THEIR bus.
The driver may change over the years or as a result of different events.

For a while, you may even nominate your physician or therapist to be the driver of your bus, perhaps even your lawyer or accountant.

In most instances, you choose experienced drivers.
They know how to shift the gears, use the blinkers and operate the radio.

Since you don't know your destination, they'll take you where they think you ought to be going. It will ultimately be their choice of destination.

And while your designated driver drives, you can enjoy the ride. Walking from the first row to the last one, living happily (or not) in your little bus, called life.

Since you have nothing of significance to do, you may get a little bored. Most people do.

Some fall asleep, hoping to fall into an interesting dream.
Some fill the emptiness with anything they can find in the mini-bar of the bus.

Others still, turn on the little blue box at the rear of the bus, staring at the moving pictures, describing other people and their bus journeys.

It's not until many years and as many miles down the road that the realization dawns upon them, "Hey, I'm missing my journey".
I see it everyday.

Some wake up 5 or 10 years too late only to discover that while their spouse drove their bus, they missed their children's early years.
Others wake up with a bang, usually around their forties to realize that while their boss was driving their bus, they forgot what youth, playfulness and joy were.

Most people are afraid to drive their own bus.
They believe that they're not capable. Not good enough.
They were conditioned to believe that others know better.
Some think that they have no choice. They were born with a driver and that's life.

For many it's comforting to know, that there's always someone else to blame for any bump in the road or a turn that leads to a dead-end.

However, there are also consequences and costs for not driving your bus...

You feel powerlessness as a direct result of not having control over your life.

You are traveling in a direction that in reality has nothing to do with where you really wish to be... your destination.
Usually your driver chooses the radio station he or she likes. And this constant background music might not be to your liking.
And most of all, traveling as a passenger in your own bus is infinitely boring and unfulfilling.

So, how about taking the steering wheel in your own hands.
Give your driver a 15-second-notice and then throw him or her off your bus.
See what happens.

When you sit in front, you'll see the road ahead of you.
You're not that busy with all that surround you from the sides.
You don't spend valuable time, looking back through the rear window.

Everything is new, fresh and exciting.
The bumps on the way are still there, but this time you choose how to handle them. You can even choose your favorite radio station.

I can hear some of you screaming from the back, "God is my shepherd, God is my designated driver!"
Well folks, here's a newsflash: if God is your shepherd, then his job is to navigate, not to drive!

Make friends with God, Spirit, the Universe, your Higher-Self - whatever you want to name it. Invite him (her) to sit next to you and ask him what's your destination. He knows it.
Then, along the way, you can ask him what's the best turn here and there... and listen carefully.

When you get the answer - it is still YOU who choose to follow the directions, or turn the other way.

Remember, the destination is only an excuse for the journey.
So, enjoy the ride.

PS. Wanna know what is written on the destination plate of YOUR bus?

It says... freedom!

Making a Difference

Making a difference is like throwing a pebble in a pool. The ripples spread from the center to larger and larger circles of influence. It begins within you.

We're living in an exciting period. Human consciousness is expanding so fast that the future is no longer predictable.
Someone has to start and lead the way, creating a better world. What about you?

Waiting for a hero to take you by the hand and lead you is choosing to remain a victim or a child. It is time we grow up and take responsibility for our own life.

This is the season to say goodbye to the past year and welcome in the new. It is a time for self-exploration and asking questions about where we want to go from here.

We all have a purpose even if we don't know what it is yet. What better time to find out than today?

NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING

Are you sure that the way you perceive things is the way they really are? Are you willing to challenge the norm in order to succeed?
Making assumptions is something we all do in many areas of our lives. An assumption is “something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof.” In other words, it is belief without proof.

NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
